Hello, I'm Julie and quite glad to have stumbled across this community. I prefer rhyming poetry, but I've always been somewhat reluctant to share it. I used to love to write poetry, but I stopped inexplicably. This is the first poem I have written in four years.

The sun recedes into the west
And hides away his azure trains;
An ebon cloak is to be press'd
Upon the lonely ev'ning lanes.
I journey through the fledgling night,
Compell'd on by the sun's last rays
And of my hope to see the light
Of love burn bright in my love's gaze.
The deep clear blue has fled the skies,
But I know where it keeps its nest:
It can be found within his eyes,
And in his arms I'll find my rest.
The journey's end will banish pain and care
When weary pigrims find dear treasures there.

As you can see, I'm fond of iambic tetrameter.
